I've dabbled with drawing cartoons for years, but when artist Uma Kelkar introduced me to the brush pen in 2015, my interest and ability took off! The combination of a better drawing tool and computer technology let me draw professional looking cartoons in full color in a fraction of the time it takes with a dip pen and watercolor. For several years I used the FREE program "Inkscape" to color and modify scanned ink drawings. "Inkscape" is an excellent vector drawing and editing application similar to Adobe "Illustrator."

However, I discovered a powerful drawing tool "Clip Studio Paint" at an affordable price that I now use almost exclusively. It's perfect for adding color to scanned ink drawings and with a drawing tablet, painstaking ink drawing and correcting are a thing of the past. My cartoons drawn with CSP have the look of ink but without the permanence of paper. My cartoons never see paper until they are published. Below is a recently published drew entirely with Clip Studio Paint. The QR link will tell you about the software and where to purchase.
